John Del Cecato has worked at the highest levels of local, state, and national politics for 25 years.
As a partner in a leading national political consulting firm, Del Cecato has helped craft research-driven media and communications strategies for clients such as Barack Obama, Pete Buttigieg, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-NY), New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Boston Mayor Marty Walsh.
In 2008 and 2012, Del Cecato worked closely with Barack Obama’s presidential campaign’s polling and communications teams and was responsible for writing, directing, and producing many of Obama’s nationally-broadcast television ads – including several spots that independent research found to be the most effective of the presidential campaign. Del Cecato played a similar role on the insurgent 2020 presidential campaign of former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
Del Cecato graduated with honors from Northwestern University in 1995, majoring in communications and political science. He has lectured on the intersection of polling, message development, and advertising at the Univ. of Virginia, George Washington, Yale, Columbia, Tufts, the University of Pennsylvania, ESADE Business and Law School (Madrid), and his alma mater NU.
